Japan Vice Minister visit Thang Long Data Center

In the afternoon of 12th Oct 2011, Japan Vice Minister Kimiaki Matsuzaki and the delegation of Japan Global ICT Strategy Bureau of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications visited and worked with Global Data Service Company (GDS) at Thang Long Data Center of GDS in Hanoi.

Vice Minister Kimiaki Matsuzaki appreciated the advanced IT environment of the joint venture GDS, especially the development and application of cloud computing technologies at Thang Long Data Center. Mr. Koichiro Otaki, CEO of GDS said cloud computing was definitely shaping how data centers built out in the digital era of Google, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, online gaming and smartphones. Therefore, with the support of experience and technology transfer from the Asia leading telecommunication group NTT Communications Corporation (Japan), GDS has introduced cloud services to proactively in front for the flurry of digital content industry in Vietnam.

With the same judgment, Japan Global ICT Strategy Bureau affirmed cloud computing was creating a chance for businesses to reach the efficient, intelligent and cost-effective performance. Vietnamese enterprises are in favorable conditions for using these utilities while many foreign technology vendors continuously introduced their cloud computing applications in Vietnam with Foreign Giants.

Closing the meeting, State Secretary Kimiaki Matsuzaki stressed that Japan was promoting development and investment into high-tech fields in Vietnam. Therefore, the presence of the data center branded Japan as Thang Long Data Center would be a highlight in the Vietnam – Japan co-operation ICT picture.

GDS is a 3 year-old joint venture between the Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) and NTT Communications Corporation of Japan. Currently, GDS provides Tier-III (TIA-942) international standard Data Center services including collocation services, managed services, connectivity services, disaster recovery, cloud services (IaaS & SaaS) for agencies, organizations and enterprises at home and abroad
